VRada’s speaker meets Georgian premier G.Gaharia to boost bilateral collaboration at diverse levels

( Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat )

Ukraine and Georgia both need to step up the instruments of international cooperation,” – Dmytro Razumkov

The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Dmytro Razumkov met with Georgia's Prime Minister Giorgi Gaharia.

During the meeting they discussed further intensification of cooperation between the countries and development prospects for the diplomatic platforms, which Ukraine and Georgia are members of. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed that Ukraine and Georgia are firmly united by their history, aspirations and values. At the same time, there are such common problems as the fighting for their territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Dmytro Razumkov emphasized that the interaction between the countries should be developed both at the parliamentary level and in other directions. Dmytro Razumkov also called on Georgia's representatives to concerted actions aimed at protecting territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine and other states that have undergone aggression.

The speaker of Ukraine’s parliament stated that efficacy of  international organizations such as the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development-GUAM, the Georgia-Moldova-Ukraine Inter-parliamentary Assembly and the Eastern Partnership should be significantly boosted.

D.Razumkov endorsed the Georgian prime minister’s proposal regarding strengthening contacts and exchanging experience in conducting reforms. He also focused on the priority of human rights.

In his turn, the Georgian premier invited the Verkhovna Rada's speaker to pay an official visit to Georgia and announced the creation of another "base for developing brotherly and friendly relations with Ukraine" - a high-level strategic council.

Giorgi Gaharia assured of his readiness to continue supporting the Ukrainian people and suggested creating a coalition for development without aggression in order to protect basic interests of the countries.
