Chairman’s Seasonal Greetings

( Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat )

Dear Fellow Ukrainians,

Fellow Compatriots,

I am happy to share my sincere congratulations on the New Year and Christmas holidays that are coming! The incoming 2018 is the year that is full of signs to Ukrainians. All over the world, all Ukrainians in their entirety shall celebrate the centenary of the Ukrainian statehood in the year to come. There will be one hundred years since Ukraine’s independence was proclaimed!

It is my strong belief, there were these meaningful, emblematic and without a bit of exaggeration fundamental events to the history of Ukraine’s state-building. The declaration of independence of the Ukrainian People’s Republic became a decisive development in the struggle of the people of Ukraine for their nationhood throughout the Twentieth Century.

At that time we started our fight for renewal of the sovereign and self-dependent state – and are today we building our own country! We sure shall be in triumph. United, we will protect and reinforce Ukraine. The key to safety and security, free life in dignity for every single citizen of Ukraine is the state of sovereignty and independence.

We are the people of heroic past and great after-time, with every passing day we move ahead to become better and stronger.  Still with mistakes, but we move forward. After several years of crisis caused by the war, we are switching to recovery and development. Huge gratitude to all of you for everything the country has achieved. This is the result of our joint work. Let us rejoice at our fellow citizens who recently came back from captivity to friends and relatives. Thank God, we managed to wrest them from the enemy’s torture chambers. Let us congratulate the Ukrainian warriors with great respect. They firmly hold the line on the east frontiers. We will continue to reinforce the new army - our pride and our glory.

God’s help and protection I wish to our valiant defenders who like many years before are doing their tremendous cause protecting independence, peace and repose of Ukraine, will and dignity of every one of us.

Christ is born! Sing praises to him!
