Photo exhibition of Ukrainian photographers "Donbas: war and peace", which collected works of the best Ukrainian photographers working in Dobas, was presented in Parliament of the Great Britain

( Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat )

The exhibition was held with the assistance of Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for peaceful settlement of the situation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, Chairperson of the Committee on European Integration Iryna Herashchenko and National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.

Minister for Europe David Lidington opened the exhibition and said that the world does not always promptly react to the situation in Donbas, but today it is in solidarity with Ukraine.

The British Government and Parliament agree on this.

Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for peaceful settlement of the situation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions I.Herashchenko stressed that it is not a civil war and addressed her British colleagues to strengthen sanctions against the Russian Federation. She informed about Russia and insurgents violating the Minsk Agreements, about sufferings of the civil population, particularly women and children. Ukrainian MP, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on European Mariia Ionova called her British colleagues to uphold the initiative of the Ukrainian President to deploy peacekeeping troops in Donbas and invited them to visit Ukraine to see for themselves the large-scale destruction caused the war conducted by the Russian Federation.

The participants also discussed reforms in Ukraine, work of the new Ukrainian Parliament, and corruption counteraction.

Chairperson of the inter-parliamentary friendship group "Ukraine–Britain" John Whittingdale promised that the British politicians will continue applying pressure on the Russian Federation until there is progress in implementing the Minsk Agreements.

Within framework of visit of Ukrainian delegation to the Great Britain, MPs met with representatives of Ukrainian community of London. A charitable auction was organized in the Ukrainian Institute in London where over GBP 1600 were gathered.
