Committees round-up: Daily

( Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat )

There are /// bodies in focus of our committee scan today:

Committee on Public Health, Medical Assistance and Medical Insurance

The committee held an ample discussion on the cooperation with the Netherlands in reforming Ukraine’s health care system.

The сommittee сhairman met today with representatives of the Dutch delegation, headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ukraine, Jennes de Mol. The meeting was held to share knowledge and experience in the field of health care and to identify potential opportunities for cooperation between Dutch and Ukrainian organizations in reforming the national health care system.

The Ukrainian official briefed the attendees on the committee's priorities as well as the ongoing reform of Ukraine's health care system. He also spoke about the introduction of fee-based healthcare services (aka ‘paid medical services’), legislative and practical regulation of tissue transfer (transplantation) services in Ukraine, adoption of the draft bill No.2538, aimed at creating an effective national public procurement system, and plans for the future. The сommittee head called on the foreign partners to cooperate.

The Dutch ambassador Jennes de Mol clued up that his delegation consists of 15 representatives of companies from different healthcare sectors and expressed his appreciation for the interest to the Dutch side’s proposals. During the meeting, representatives of the Dutch companies also spoke about their priorities in cooperating with Ukraine.

The parties called for the deepening and expanding their cooperation in the field of health care. They also emphasized the high importance of sharing experience in reforming this big domain, in particular.

Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy

The body has held committee hearings over the concept of state support for agricultural producers within the framework of ongoing agrarian reforms.

MPs, representatives of line ministries, the finance ministry, the Accounting Chamber, some specialized agricultural associations, banking and insurance companies, scientific institutions and public organizations were in attendance at the event.

Participants of the meeting heard a report of the deputy minister of economic development, trade and agriculture. The conferees did second the suggestion expressed to develop a 3-year state-support programme for Ukraine’s agro-industrial complex.

As a result of the hearings, the committee is to come up with recommendations that are thought to take into account all the proposals talked over during the meeting.

Committee on Human Rights, Deoccupation and Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories in Donetsk, Luhansk Regions and Autonomous Republic of Crimea, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations

During February 11-12, the committee is holding a field meeting in the Kherson region.

The body started it with a panel on the issues of occupation and reintegration of the Crimea and visitation of the Kalanchak” entry-exit checkpoint in the Kherson oblast (region). Parliamentarians then met with local IDP communities from the temporarily occupied territory of the Crimea. During the panel, there were amply discussed the pressing problems of Crimean residents and internally displaced persons from the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

Within the framework of the field tour, the committeemen visited the Chaplynskyi administrative services centre, one of the closest to the occupied peninsula. The closing item of the today’s Kherson trip agenda was reviewing the service and restricted areas of the “Kalanchak” checkpoint.

Visiting the “Chonhar” entry-exit checkpoint is slated for February 12, 2020.
