A.Parubii: US-UA memorandum to uplift interaction

( Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat )

Opening the Conciliation Board on Monday Andrii Parubii, the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has informed on the results of the recent working visit to the USA.

According to A.Parubii, the Washington visit gave a good chance to meet with a wide range of high ranking defence officers from the United States National Security Council, the U.S. Department of Defense, the core congressmen and senators. The politician stressed that ‘in the course of every meeting the Ukrainian delegation has been raising the three major problems – strengthening of the sanctions against Russia, granting Ukraine a Major Non-NATO Ally status, and the lethal weapons’. The key visit’s sitting was the one with Paul Ryan, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives which gave us the Memorandum on cooperation between the parliaments. The deed is aimed at a strategic partnership and enhancing of the bilateral collaboration between the parliaments in the political, economic, security, humanitarian, and cultural spheres.

‘It is important the Memorandum calls Ukraine to be the outpost for defence of the West from the Russian aggression. I am sure the document signed will lift our partnership up to a new level of inter-parliamentary and international collaboration,’ denoted Andrii Parubii.
