Kyiv: Open Data Forum

( Information Department of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat )

This year’s Open Data Government Award goes to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine – the award for the highest standards of open data promulgation by central administrative authorities

On September 7, the Open Data Forum was held in Kyiv again, an annual all-Ukrainian event that gathered representatives of the central and local authorities, Ukrainian and international experts, public activists and a startup community around the topic of development and application of open data in Ukraine.

Within the framework of the event, the country’s leaders in the open data development were named in several nominations.  The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine won this year the Open Data Government Award - the award for the highest standards of publication of open data by central government.

According to international and Ukrainian experience, the discovery of data stimulates creation of new services and develops the industry of its own software products, improves interaction between society and state, as well as increases transparency of activity and level of trust to authorities.

The focus of this year's Forum is on economic impact and potential of open data in Ukraine, the goal is to create a platform for a joint search for opportunities to effectively use the socio-economic potential of open data and to discuss trends and innovations in the international practice of using data in favor of the development of local communities.

The event was organized by the State Agency for E-Governance of Ukraine in partnership with the Eurasia Foundation’s project “Transparency and Accountability in Public Administration and Services”/TAPAS with the support of USAID and UK AID.
