Second Inter-Parliamentary Conference

Second IP Conference ends its work

The Second Inter-Parliamentary Conference “Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine: Strengthening the Inter-Parliamentary Component of Regional and Security Cooperation, While Developing Interaction with the EU and NATO” has concluded its work in Kyiv, featuring signing the statement of launching the tripartite assembly.

Before the forum started, the chairmen of the delegations participating in the conference had taken part in laying flowers at the Memorial to the Holodomor victims.

Within the conference’s embrace, there was held a specialized panel discussion on a regional response to disinformation with the attendance of rapporteurs of mark. The event was moderated by Rebecca Harms, Co-Chair of the EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly.

The “Kyiv” hotel’s Triumphal Hall hosted the opening ceremony of the conference. During the ceremony, moderated by Andrius Kubilius, there were addresses delivered by Andriy Parubiy, the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Irakli Kobakhidze, the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, and Andrian Candu, the Chairman of the Moldovan Parliament, and the tripartite assembly launching statement signed.

After the opening, there was held a joint briefing by the speakers of the three steering states. The briefing was ended with signing the Law of Ukraine “On Supreme Anticorruption Court” by the Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament A.Parubiy.

The international conference encompassed three panels.

Panel One: "Countering the New Security Challenges".

Panel Two: "Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova: from the Association Agreement to Full Integration into the EU".

Panel Three: “Political Dialogue and Consensus Building”.

On March 2, 2018 the Inter-parliamentary Conference "Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine: Eastern Partnership and Modern Security Challenges" was held in Chisinau, Republic of Moldova, with the attendance of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy, the Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Andrian Candu, the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia Irakli  Kobakhidze, representatives of the parliamentary leaderships from Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Bulgaria, as well as the Atlantic Council, as a co-organizer of the event.
